Mother’s Day Classic Traralgon/ Toongabbie

Supporting the fight against Breast Cancer

Our Managing Director of Bonacci Agency, Casey Bonacci, has been crucial in providing event management and marketing support to the local Mother’s Day Classic committee. This cause is particularly close to her heart.

First held in 2013, the Traralgon/ Toongabbie event is run across the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail. Participants can walk, run, or cycle 6km or 9km from the respective towns, with the finish line at the old Railway Station in Glengarry, which hosts speeches, awards, entertainment and a market for everyone to enjoy.

The event is not just about the participants but also community spirit. A volunteer committee of local women, including Casey, manages the Traralgon/ Toongabbie event, which is part of hundreds of other regional and Metro events run simultaneously as part of the nationwide charity fun run to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s fight against breast cancer.

With Casey’s departure from the committee after the 2022 event, the event hit a remarkable milestone by reaching ten (10) years in 2023. Casey’s efforts and support have been instrumental in the success of the region’s Mother’s Day Classic event.

THE OUTCOME

Organising a community event has its challenges, especially in small townships. But that is exactly what our volunteers have done since 2014, staging the Toongabbie/Traralgon Mothers Day Classic Event which Casey Bonacci has been involved since its inception. While working in London and Queensland, Casey continued to volunteer her time and expertise to manage our Facebook site and media to promote the event broadly. Over the 9 years, the result has been an increase in numbers, which translates to an increase in funds to be donated back to Breast Cancer Research.

Caseys professional approach and knowledge of the local community has had a positive impact in the organisational stages and on the day of the event. Her family, friends and dog always participate on the day which shows her genuine empathy for the importance of raising research funds.
